Merit Badge List

There are currently 137 merit badges that can be earned in Boy Scouts. 21 of those merit badges are Eagle required but not all 21 must be taken to get the Eagle rank, only a specific 13. To get Eagle Scout, you must take First Aid, Citizenship inthe Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Cooking, Personal Fitness, Personal Managment, Camping and Family Life. Also to get Eagle Scout you must pick ONE of the Eagle merit badge options; Emergency Preparedness OR Lifesaving, Enviromental Science OR Sustainability, and Swimming OR Hiking OR Cycling. All of the other merit badges not listed are optional and can be taken for fun.

Fun Fact: Agreed upon by most scouts, Fingerprinting is the easiest merit badge of the 137. Going off of that; the hardest merit badge to earn is the Scuba Diving Merit Badge.
